What is the Student Senator?

The Student Senator is the Student member of the Senate at Australian Catholic University and President/Chair of the ACU National Student Association (ACUNSA). The University Senate is the governing body of the University and is comprised of:

Each year the ACU National Student Association (ACUNSA), comprising of the six Presidents and current Student Senator, elects a new Student Senator by ballot. All Students of Australian Catholic University are eligible for nomination.

As well as being a member of Senate, the Student Senator represents the interests of all students on Academic Board and a number of other national committees. The Student Senator liaises with Senior Management within the University to advance the interests of ACUNSA, the local Student Associations and more broadly, all students of the University. As Chair of ACUNSA, the Student Senator presides over the meetings of ACUNSA and drives forward its Agenda. It is vital for the Student Senator to constantly liaise with Student Association Presidents to ensure that the Senator is informed on any issues or concerns on a local level, beyond their own campus.
