Message from two Students who attended The Big Event 2004

Jess Boon & Simone Spaulding

The Big Event is a way to get in touch with our beliefs and spirituality and to connect us to things that are greater than each of us. By being involved in social awareness, there is a sense of empowerment to get up and make a difference.

In 2004, the workshops helped to jog our memories, but we also discovered that a lot of learning happens from your fellow students in Contact Groups. It's the people sitting right beside you who have experienced so much and been involved in such a variety of social action. This makes it really hit home that there are students at our uni who are active in their communities, and socially minded.

The bonds you develop take you to a different level of friendship and they tie you together in different ways from other friends. Different qualities of who you are as an individual and as a valued member of the community are voiced and shared.
You will find that those around you have similar values, beliefs and drive - this is what makes ACU students different and highlights why we want to be here! Each and every one of us believes in being morally and socially responsible, and this is the underlying connection we all share.

The Big Event is an unforgettable experience, which will leave you feeling satisfied and fulfilled, with the power to come together and make a difference.
